FAQ
What is affected by the base currency?
Your base currency is used to translate account statements, calculate margin requirements, and display reports.
Fees such as market data subscriptions, research costs, inactivity charges, and commissions on Forex trades are also shown in your base currency.
Be aware: Holding balances in currencies other than your base currency exposes you to currency risk, as exchange rate fluctuations may affect the value displayed in your account.
When will the change take place?
The request will be processed the next business day.
What happens to investments denominated in a different currency?
Changing your base currency does not alter the currency in which your investments are denominated. Securities and cash balances remain in their original currencies.
Your account will continue to show these positions, but their values will be translated into your chosen base currency for reporting and margin purposes.
Important: Exchange rate fluctuations may affect how the value of foreign-currency investments appears in your account. However, the underlying investment remains denominated in its original currency. If you sell such an investment, the proceeds will still be received in that same currency unless you carry out a currency conversion.
